The Battle of Dunkirk - Introduction
The Battle of Dunkirk began on the 26th May 1940 and ended on the 4th June 1940.
The Battle took place at the start of World War Two, when France, Belgium and the United Kingdom were fighting against Nazi Germany.
German troops surrounded British, French and Belgian armies along the beaches of Dunkirk, stranding them.
Operation Dynamo was operated to rescue them and 860 boats carried troops to Dover and the South Coast. 338,000 British and French troops were evacuated from Dunkirk when the target was 50,000!
Personally, I see it as a success, do you?!
... In case you were wondering where Dunkirk was, it is in the North of France and is near the Belgium border!
